    mpeg codecs are pretty much built into everyplayer out there these days

    I spose an mpeg player. I have an mpeg file that I want to play. I thought I could download an MPEG codec through which I would be able to play MPEGs on MS media player.

    vlc media player plays nearly everything without having to install codecs.

    i thougt media player would update itself if it needed to.

    anyway,
    forget wmp for video, its bloated and carpy
    get media player classic, an open source low resource media player,

    you can get codecs for quicktime and real for it aswell and ditch two more bloated programs ;)

    Media Player Classic with the K-lite codecs or ACE Mega Codecs pack plays almost everything I have come across. Just a bit picky about ffw and rw with AVI's.
