    I'm Trying to decide which one of these to go for but i've heard a lot about games not supporting widescreen resolutions, however it was my understanding that even using a normal resolution the picture would be stretched to fill the entire "wide"screen?

    So Would i be better off going for the

    2001FP 20.1":

    * Monitor size and type: : 20.1" (51.0cm) active matrix TFT
    * Resolution: : 1600 x 1200 (UXGA)
    * Response time / Brightness / Contrast Ratio: : 16ms / 250cd/m2 / 400:1
    * Dimensions h x w x d: : 459 / 589 (compressed / extended) x 448 x 245 mm
    * Weight: : 8.5 kg
    * Inputs: : Analogue / Digital / S-Video / Composite
    * Height adjustable stand / Audio capability: : Yes (130mm travel) / Optional AS500 soundbar
    * VESA mounting compatible / Security slot: : Yes (100mm) / Yes
    * Integrated powered USB 2.0 hub: : 4 downstream / 1 upstream ports
    * Warranty: : 3 year next busness day exchange

    OR The

    2005FPW 20":
    untitled2mc.jpg
    # Monitor size and type : 20" (51.0cm) active matrix TFT
    # Resolution : 1680 x 1050 (WUXGA)
    # Response time / Brightness / Contrast Ratio : 12ms / 300cd/m2 / 600:1
    # Dimensions h x w x d : 391 / 491 (compressed / extended) x 472 x 230 mm
    # Weight : 7.9 kg
    # Inputs : Analogue / Digital / S-Video / Composite
    # Height adjustable stand / Audio capability : Yes (100mm travel) / Optional AS500 soundbar
    # VESA mounting compatible / Security slot : Yes (100mm) / Yes
    # Integrated powered USB 2.0 hub : 4 downstream / 1 upstream ports

    Whats your Personal Preference?

    The newer games do support widescreen. I'd go for the widescreen myself, i dont really have a techincal reason why, i just prefere widescreens. I know WizZard has one...think its the widescreen. He'll sing its praises no doubt.

    BTW, in your sig, "Athlon64 Barton 3200+" -- ???

    <sing>
    Get the widescreen, it's class!!! ;) All the games I play have widescreen support, HL2, Doom3, Riddick, etc. The extra real estate is unbelievable. I moved from a 21" Sony Trinitron and really haven't noticed any degradation of picture/clarity etc at all.
    Dell had a 30% discount on non-widescreen monitors a while ago, so that would be the only reason I would buy non-widescreen over the normal.

    slade_x, if you're in Dublin you can see the 2005FPW working if you want.

    I went for the 2001FP 20.1" at christmas, at the time I did a lot of research into which was the best and the 2001FP 20.1": came out the better option.

    Exact details why I cant remember

    Either way both monitors are amazing
