Our dog recently had gastro and was given antibiotics , she finished the course last week but over the last few days she has started to get diorea . Just now tonight I noticed that this has turned to a kind of blood filled goo ?

Asking here if anyone knows anything as to what i should do next , should I look for a vet now , or wait till morning .....long wait ....

This has the potential to be very serious.
    need to know.........

    How is she behaving?
    Is she neutered?

I would definately go back to your vet, just in case something is seriously wrong.

Went to vet first thing this morning ( she was in ok form last night and didn't seem in pain ) . The vet said it was colitius ( though one to spell ) , and it was a bad flare up of same , her diet now needs to be completely changed .

Thanks to those who replied , as last night we sat there wondering do you/ don't you wake up the vet for this .

In an emergency yes you call the vet & he will either come to you or you go to them.

What are you currently feeding her ? Did the vet suggest anything ? Normally dogs with diet problems are put on Burns which is gentle on delicate stomachs.

We were feeding her pedigree light , also using pedigree tins ( about a 1/4 of a tin mashed up to encourage her to eat it ) .

Now the vet has her on Royal Canin , Waltham , Sensitivity Control ( which is 10 euro for a 1.5 kg bag :o , yikes! luckily she is a great pet otherwise I'd eat her )

Did I also mention she is epileptic !!!!

Oh poor little thing, shes having a right time of it !!

Hopefully the food will sort her out.

Epilepsy can be controlled - do you have her on medication for this ??

I only clicked on this thread because it looked like an interesting cooking recipe. Good luck with your doggie.

yup , 2 1/2 tablets a day , everyday . She still has the odd fit , especially at times like these when she is sick .

Ped.chum played havok with one of my dogs tums, I am finding more and more people are switching to dry food esp. Burns or Royal Canine or the like.

Burns might be a good choice for your dog, it may seem expensive but when you add up the amount of tinned food you would buy it works out pretty much the same..also no more opening tins and all that mess.

It can take them a while to get used to a new food, but if hungry they'll eat it and even fussy dogs seem to like it.

Trying my dog who has a sensative tum on pro biotic yogurt to see if that will help and shes fed on the Burns as well.

Hope your pooch is feeling better soon :-)
