I'm not sure how accurate this is since most resellers in the world has not listed the Venice core yet, only one other that I am aware off in Sweden. I find it strange that they are one of the first to advertise AMD's new core. Whats even better is its cheaper than Winchester :)

Some Canadian outfit showed them on sale today too. Can't remember the name, and the URL is on my PC at work now.

And elara seem to be getting their stock on the 18th April too... :(

How reliable is Elara anyway? They seem to have all of the Venice cores and San Diego as well.

I've bought off them before, but I collected from their offices at the time. They are usually expensive but they don't seem to be for the new Athlon64's?!

I guess it depends on when they get them in

I guess than Venice is a lot cheaper than that.

Im deffinitly getting one for my new SLi rig, but which one? I hear they come in 3000, 3200, 3500 and 4000 favours. Anyone know what the FSB's/Multi's are and which one would be the best value for money/overclocker?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,762 ✭✭✭WizZard

Nobody really knows yet because IIRC only some guy at XS has got one to play with!

I'm looking at 3200 or 3500 and then overclock it.

any news on the venices??? when will they be available to buy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 722 ✭✭✭flatface

Elara have them listed and have changed the expected date til next monday, they e-mailed me:

"At the moment, it's the manufacturers dictating the date, when the
distributors get hold of them it will be on the site immediately, until then
the only way to know is to check our website, the products get updated
    daily.

Unfortunately you can not pre order the item. When they come into stock
there should be a large quantity so it should not be a problem. Have a look
at the estimated date for it and just keep an eye on it as they are subject
    to change."

Yeah, but until the weekend the due date was yesterday... :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,630 ✭✭✭gline

    €310 for the 3500 :(

I have my thermos and sleeping bag and am in it for the long wait...
if this thread gets to 800 posts I may reconsider ;)

Has anyone heard of what spec each chip will have? eg. fsb, multi?

AFAIK they will be the exact same as the Winchesters, but with a better memory controller. That's all.
    They may overclock better...

From that review it appears they do overclock quite well (2.8 on air). So it looks like it'll be the 3200 for me as i won't be needing a higher multi than 10. BTW are they all 512k cache as i heard somewhere the 3800 or 4000 will have a 1mb cache, anyone else know anything about this?

Oh dear, look at the shipping date! :(
    Monarch Computer

Jesus.. don't know if i can hold out that long.. already have the RAM, GFX card and the MOBO for my new rig will be here sometime next week. After that its going to be sitting there waiting for a Venice chip.. i hope Elara are telling the truth about there chip arrival date (for once).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,762 ✭✭✭WizZard

It's doubtful. Monarch are usually on-time, and since no-one else I know of is stocking, or even offering for pre-sale I am worried that I won't see it til next month :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 722 ✭✭✭flatface

Ray of hope - Monarch 3200+
seems the non retail-boxed version is 2 weeks earlier.
But the Elara site would be the boxed version :(

I'll be buying one, but not from them. Shipping is a bit slow. I'll wait til overclock.co.uk get them in.
