    Howdy..

I'm investigating antivirus software for a small business (around 60 PCs), and liked the look of this managed software McAfee have come up with. However, all I can find on the internet is reviews by McAfee themselves or people trying to sell it, none of which I trust. Anyone use this and know if it is any good, or know of a good non-biased website to find software reviews/comparisons? Or, indeed, if you are aware of another nice and easily managed package I should investigate, by all means throw the name my way!

    Ta! ;)

Try Computer Associates E trust Antivirus
It has a back up scanning engine in case the main one goes down.
Has worked well for us on a network of similar size for a year or so now.

We use ASaP in our office - around 20 PCs. It hasn't let us down since we rolled it out in March 2004.

It ensures that everyone's antivirus definitions are up to date without us having to bug the users to do so.

I would recommend it for simplicity's sake alone.

Thanks folks.. I look into the CA option, too. I must admit it is the lack of user interraction that is attracting me to McAfee in the first place. I have heard, though, that their online reporting system can be patchy enough, eg, reporting up-to-date machines as needing a DAT update, have you found that, krinpit?

Kind of. It seems to give a list of all machines that have ever had the software installed. So if you replace a machine with a new one and give it the same "Computer Name" in My Computer, you will see 2 incidences of the PC on the report. One will be "up to date" and the other will be flagging a "not up to date" message.

To be honest, I rarely look at that report anyway. It doesn't really tell you much if you are confident that the software is installed on all machines. (Not difficult to ascertain on a small network).

I use Mcafee for about 200 machines
I find it reliable and the fact they release updates every day is great as the chances of machines missing uodates is greatly reduced from when they only updated every week

Lastest version also included a personell firewall
