    www.hostelworld.com has loadsa places..

Lower east side I reckon is the best part of the city to stay in..
    Also around 33rd St..
Upper west side is kinda out of town..

    Manhatten Inn hostel is good.
across the street the Chelsea Star hotel is also good
Jazz on the park lower east side is probably the best location.
Hostelling international has great facilities but bad location.
Hotel 17 is bad.. don't go there

    Hello there,

You should try and stay downtown (south of city). You can get decent accommodation there at a reasonable rates - and on top of that, you wont have to travel too far to be in the lively parts of the city like SoHo, little Italy, Greenwich Village etc

I made the big mistake of staying in the upper west side of Manhattan in a right hole called "Jazz in the Park" for last St Paddy’s weekend. This place was by far the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. The place was filthy, the staff were a bunch of pricks and its in a really dodgy area. If you check out Google and type in "Jazz in the park reviews" you'll see what I mean.

Where ever you are thinking about staying, do yourself a big favour and look up reviews on the internet and take on board what other people have to stay.

This one, on the lower east side is actually called "Jazz on the town" - the one I was reffering to was its partner hostel in the upper west side, Beside Central park.

Apparently "Jazz on the town" in the south of the city is cool enough.

Book now is what i say.

A friend of mine and I are flying to NYC this June. We had been looking at the flight prices for a couple of weeks. On the tuesday we could fly out and back for €500 with no restrictions on us for what time we departed or arrived back. On the wednesday one of the flights had jumped by €100 we now have to fly into Shannon at 6:10am.

We also searched every other possible airline and Aerlingus came up the cheapest.

    A.

thanks for the advice b3t4, will be booking soon. did you price any package deals?im looking in todays irish independent in the classifieds and there seems to be some good deals.

A package deal wouldn't have suited our needs as we have accomodation over there.

Another good website to check out NYC hotels on, would be tripadvisor.com They also have forums and have reviews for hotels.
