Disgraceful Evening Herald Article

Anyone seen todays Evening Herald with the article about the raw side of poker and gambling. It has a big 3/4 page picture with an Ace of Clubs with a homeless person as the face of the card. Then it goes on to interview some random Dub who was a gambling addict (bookies etc). Not one further mention of the word poker for the whole article.

I have a hard enough time explaining to my parents, friends etc that I dont lose my rent money playing poker, that I am not being scammed and that poker is fun without the Herald using poker as its headline because poker is getting more popular and then having some crap article about Anto who ripped up a bookies shop one day.

I feel it was in the worst possible taste and the Evening Herald can f*** off if they think I'm buying any more of their ****.

the herald is a complete rag so i'm not surprised.

at the same time, i do think that for some people poker is just a more respectible form of gambling which can be addictive and destructive.

it is important to highlight this since the scene is getting so huge (obviously in a more tactful way than the herald).

all us boardsies seem to play it like the sport it is and have our heads screwed on but i wouldnt be at all surprised if half the big money cash game players in dublin are up to their necks and have a problem.

At least with online Poker you have some chance
    as opposed to online Casinos!
Also they should talk about the guys betting using their CC with online bookies, thats 10 times worse.
