velveteen, not felt, is the gear you want as it wont go all bally causing cards to stick or flip.

i got 10 swatches off this site delivered and all free gratis http://www.distinctivefabric.com/fabric.php?id=VELVETEEN2

havent got round to ordering the velveteen i want yet but will do when I have the renovations on the gaff done. theres two upholstery shops on the end of capel street you should look into aswell. lemme know how you get on sourcing the foam and vinyl for the rail

not sure amarillo - haven't actually built mine yet but the advice I've been given is that velveteen is best as its pile is so short theres no chance of balling or bumps....and I have to say that when I got the swatches it seems like good gear alright....this links should be a big help - somewhere in there is a link to buy a prefabricated rubber/foam rail, but I like the idea of building my own rail so would be interested in hearing how you get on sourcing the foam and vinyl and what quality they are:

you can get velveteen in hickeys, its a good bit more expensive then felt but when i was in hickeys in blanchardstown they had the felt and velveteen at the same price by accident, that was before christmas though
