brsvco1a - what the hell?

    I'm running win xp home sp2 and since yesterday everytime i boot i get brsvco1a caused an error and had to close and now system restore can't restore to a previous time, any ideas?

    strangely enough ye now that i think of it happened after i installed drivers for an old laser brother i found

    Well there you go then... Try updating the drivers, or even uninstalling them to see if that stops it (temporarily, as I presume you do want to use the printer).

    Look to see if it is still trying to start.

    Go to start>run type msconfig then look for it under the startup tab.

    First check in control panel - system - hardware - device manager that the old brother printer is not there anymore. If it is, disable or uninstall it

    Then check in add/remove programs if you have any software running relating to the brother printer. If so, uninstall it

    Look on your harddrive if there are any directories where the printer software was installed and delete them

    You have to stop BRSVCO1A.exe AND BRSS01A.exe from starting using msconfig. Then locate them on your harddisk and rename them to BRSVCO1A.old and BRSS01A.old

    That should be it :)
