Mods, not sure which forum this goes under, so apologies if its' in the wrong place and feel free to move it :)

Who the hell wants to wear a cat or dog fur coat in the first place??

Shouldn't we regulate it instead, as we do the slaughter and processing of other animals?

funny how people get upset about 'rover' and not about 'Bessie' the cow.

If the skins and furs were coming from a simular slaughter process to that of
cows/beef/leather would this be as much of an issue ? There is a big market for 'rover' in Korea.

I read this story about this evil woman that wanted a new coat made out of dalmation dogs. She wanted it cos she thought it would be beautiful. It was pretty horrific, she was quite tall and had worked out she would need 101 dogs to make it.

You would be shocked how many things are made from cat and dog fur. Many kids toys and coats are. A lot of it is cheaper than faux fur and so is used in place of it, it is not just rich old women wearing it, its cheap coats in supermarkets. There was a documentary on it on the brilliant TG4 programme fiorsceal.

As mentioned, in asian countries they eat the dogs so why aren't europeans up in arms about cows too.

The trade is HUGE in germany

if it was regulated and humane i wouldn't mind.

but it seems to me that the reason they do it is because it isn't regualted and cats and dogs are easy to rear

Simple really. They don't want bits of fur - which is what would happen if dogs and/or cats were used for food consumption too, so they're killed simply for their coats and not much else. The manner in which they're killed is also very very sickening.

Unlike bessie the cow. On top of that, the beef industry is very heavily regulated.

You've obviously never skinned a rabbit. Additionally, what exactly is wrong for with using an animal only for its hide (outside of being wasteful)?

Then there should be legislation for it.
