Since the photo challenge in its original incarnation seems to have died a death perhaps it's time to look at ways of re-inventing it.

My suggestion would be a 'word/theme of the month' type arrangement whereby we agree on a word, or words, at the start of each month (via suggestions and a poll, presumably) and over the course of the following month anyone can post a picture, or multiple pictures, along the theme set by that word. There is no voting process at the end, and anyone is free to post comments on the pictures posted, the exercise is purely to get people out taking photos and to get some discussion going here.

It's not a 'challenge' as such, i guess, but it means that the active thread will be a work in process, rather than something that is only worth looking at at the end of each month. Pictures would be posted in the thread rather than on imagecave, though obviously people could still use it to host their shots, and the images are posted by the photographer as and when they are taken. The thread could also be left open after the end of the month, and continually added to, along with the new topic/theme.

Is it worth doing, or are there other options we could consider?
