Alternative Sun Holidays?

Anyone got any good ideas for a sun holiday that's a bit different from the norm? Basically I'm sick of the Majorca/Gran Canaria/Club 18-30 type crap but would still like somewhere sunny, with a swimming pool that while having a bit of night life isn't all about the "go out and get smashed" weeks I've had abroad before.

Thinking of the last week in May.

One idea I had was a diving holiday in Malta, but there doesn't seem to be much late availability. Would love to get a PADI Open Water Diver course done wherever I went but open to any suggestions for an alternative sun holiday.

Any ideas? or recommendations from past experiences?

How far a field you willing to go ?

Koh Phanghan island (Thailand) is very relaxed with the option of getting off your nut. Can also do the padi there.

Do some diving or Sailing, great restaurants, lovely weather, very reasonable to eat out, and a wonderful country.

Just one thing ...wait until about Mid June ... sea warms up then.

it's early in the year - would all the 18-30 resorts be mobbed even then or would they be quiet enough?

Instead of visiting the scumbag resorts as I call them go see good parts of Spain like Madrid/Barcelona

Red sea maybe? Great diving there

I was living on the island in a beach hut , 20feet from the sea for 2 euro a night (stayed for a month i loved it so much). If you can get a decent price on a flight your laughing !
