DIY: Adding Sky+ to your Sky Digital ?

    Hi folks,

I had this mad idea and I'm wondering if anyone did it already.

I'm getting Sky tomorrow, and thought of getting Sky+ because of the recording options, but it's quite expensive, requires an additional subscription (unless you subscribe to premium channels) etc.

So to cut the long story short, I opted for Sky digital, and was wondering if I could just go off a buy my own Sky+ box and connect it would that work?

Is there anything special in that Sky+ subscription to make it work, or is it just a way for Sky to milk you for more money?

I noticed that Sky aren't selling the Sky+ boxes for any less than the online stores, so it's not even that you're getting a good deal from them.

Anyways, if anyone's done this I'd appreciate it if you could share your experience here :)

The sky plus capabilities are tied to your card, you even have to have the digibox connected to the dish to view them.

I dont know if what you want to do is possible, but it would be hacking and the discussion of that is not permitted here
