Yes, they upgraded their broadband packages over the weekend.

LOADS of discussion on the Broadband forum about it - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=411

I was having trouble with the broadband over the weekend, and suspected a speed upgrade was coming, sadly I'm still 512K with 128K upload, did they increase the upload speed any?

Nope. Upload speed is the same.

Eircom are Idiots increase download speed by 4 and nothing about the upload, which I find myself using more often anyway, well it's official we can download 20 times faster than upload  I wonder what Smart will be offering in that area.

Maybe the idea to to encourage you to buy more online content?

Your uploading is not profitable for the commercial content providers.

A faster download does not encourage me to download any of their online content, and while uploading is not profitable, if the customer wants it, I would think it's in their best interest to provide it. Come on download 20 times faster, they could up it just a bit, there are ISP's around the world that provide equal upload/download, I'm not asking for this just simple 256k upload that the British get with thier 512k connections, not 2MB.
