hey guys, i was wondering if anyone is or has lived in helsinki. i'm hoping to move there in may, maybe just for 4 months, but with the possibility of staying indefintely if things go well.

what i need to know is, how difficult is it to find a small appartment to stay in and what would be the price range? also is it a difficult place to find work...such as cafe work or anything like that. my reason for moving there is to get an appreticeship in a tattoo shop. any help would be much appreciated. ta

btw, i dont speak a lick of finnish. would that be a major issue in finding work?

im living here at the moment.

getting a room in an apartment shouldnt be too hard, or too expensive for sometthing in the centre (depeending on where you tattoo experience workplace is)

lack of finnish would be a disadvantage in a café or whatever where you're dealing with customers, although there is an irish girl working in a coffee shop in town but ive never heard if she talks to the customers in finnish or english. anyhoo, waynes coffee has a few places here in helsinki, as is roberts coffee. there are a few other small ones around the place too.

also, summer can be really really busy in some places so they will be taking on staff too, its also the world athletics championships here in august, so more people needed.

    dw!

no man, my course is just 1 year, i can go back to college after if i want to continue, but i'm going to spend a couple of years trying to get this apprenticeship and i've had a couple of offers in finland, one in helsinki and one in tampere.
