CM 00/01 problem

started a new game last night - normally when picking the team I used left click the mouse on the postion icons and drop them at the chosen player, then swap them around in the same way as the season went on now I can't - the icon won't move - which means I cannot make a substitution during a game. now I can't - the icon won't move - which means I cannot make a substitution during a game. I click on the player's name and try to move him but nothing happens.

Never seen this happen before. Mouse works fine otherwise and I have checked connections.

Tried uninstalling and re-installing but no improvement

any ideas?
