Buying Laptop In Germany

    Hi

    Im thinking of buying a laptop in germany

    aldi have a super medio laptop that (as far as ive been informed will be out next week again)

    my question is re the O/S language - is it just as simple as re installing the O/S??

    How about if i want to change the keyboard? I sthat possible.
    Or at worst would i just be able to change the keyboard settings to an irish layout and manually change the keys.....
    what ye think???

    German laptops keyboards are really annoying - ht eOS should be no problme but the keyboards have more keys to cater for umlauts etc, you can change the keyboard layout but seems like a lot of hassle

    As was said above, there are more keys than a UK/Irisk keyboard. It's not as simple as changing them around. Some of the keys that have 2 chars, eg. the "0, )" key, are different on the German keyboard, can't remember exactly but I think it's "0,}" on the German keyboard... so you'll run into problems there.

    Downtime - about the operating system to reinstall it in english - is it as simple as taking the cd's that come with it and reinstalling in english (or would they be only german??) or do i have to source an english version elsewhere??
