    Hi,

I want to buy an ipod mini as a birthday present for someone. Could you lot tell me where to buy the most up-to-date one at the best price? I'm in Dublin, don't want to buy online.

    Thx

Buying online is always cheaper but it's up to yourself. Also, I hear that Creative Zen Micros are superior, particularly in sound quality.

I heard that iRivers also kick several shades of crap outta iPods

Hmmm.... I kinda want to get an ipod because the person I'm buying it for probably won't have heard of iRivers or Creative Zens and I don't want them to think I went for a cheapo version. Plus I like the look of the ipod anyway.

How long does it usually take to have it delivered if you buy it online?

wouldn't recommend the Zen micro tbh, the Software is a total nightmware which comes with it and you HAVE to use it

3G Store had em for €189 - dunno if they still do.

I presume that was the 4GB one? On the apple website they're doing that one for €209 (what's the story there?) and the 6GB one for €249. I think I'd go for the 6GB. Does that sound like a good price? Delivery seems to be free once it's over €100.

Any time I've ordered off the applestore website, it has arrived within a few days.

I think the reason the iPod minis were being sold off cheap in the shops, was because they were the original 4 gig versions. The ones that are on the applestore website are the new updated ones. It charges faster and lasts longer now apparently.

Also, if you order off the website you can get a free custom engraving on the back of it. Although I think this might slow down the order somewhat.. and reduce it's resale value.

Personally I'd love to get an engraving that reads

    "Last night was amazing,
    Lots of love,
    Uncle Jim."

(Oh yes. And if you are a student, you might be eligable for a educational discount. I get a teachers discount and it works out at €228.69 for the 6gig version)

LOL, I bet you would. It's actually for my boyfriend. I was thinking of skipping the engraving bit, he's not a mushy kinda bloke. And I wouldn't want him to be embarrassed if any of his mates saw it! (They're all in their late 20s but still rip the piss over anything like that).
