From the 14th of March you can travel on any Aircoach route for only 7 Euro Single and 12 Euro Return! Sterling prices £5 Single and £8 Return.

That's right, we've introduced a special Easter flat fare so you can travel in luxury on the following routes

    1. Dublin Leopardstown
    2. Dublin Ballsbridge/Donnybrook
    3. Portlaoise
    4. Cork
    5. Belfast

Not sure when this runs out but my flat mate went down to Cork with them today. These are damn sexy buses compared to the usual CIE crap.

Is this an add....or a post...?

Not sure if thats an ad or a post either!?

But I have to agree. The Aircoach buses are very nice to travel on. Dublin Airport to Belfast in 2 hrs. No quicker in the car.

How they make money on the service I don't know! Last time I travelled with them, there was a record of 5 (incl me) on the bus.

Still €12 return is great value.

    Very much of interest.
Pity their timetable doesn't show the times for the various pickup points along the route rather than than a passenger having to try and calculate it for himself.

Great deal this. So Belfast route is usually quite empty? The Bus Eireann bus is always full!

I was looking at the Belfast to Dublin one which appears only to tell the time leaving Belfast. But I'm sure a phone call would reveal all. ;)
Anyway I wish it success, it's excellent value.

I think that the Belfast service isn't advertised enough. Very few of my mates knew Aircoach serviced Cork or Belfast.

Btw, anyone that is Airport staff get a discount. €2 single, €4 return. Just have to show valid airport ID. Lucky gits!

I agree, no one around here seems to have heard of it. A bit of advertising in local papers and radio in the main towns along the way might help. People, I know, get a bus into Dublin and then a coach back to the airport.

Hi Alun, it appears I didn't look hard enough :o

That is 2 hrs Belfast to Dublin AIRPORT. They don't go to the city centre at all.

Also from my experience of travelling the route with BusEireann/Translink 2 hours even in very light traffic with that route is practically impossible, in traffic it is complete fantasy.

I don't know why it is not well used but advertising cannot be the only reason. It is hard for any BE/UB users in Belfast to avoid seeing it advertised as aircoach have taken a store in the main entrance to the Europa Buscentre where the competition runs from with a big sign avertising the cheap fare. Inside the store is usually a very bored looking person sitting at a reservations desk.

Oh BTW wolfie, in case you weren't aware several of the Bus Eireann/Ulsterbus Dublin-Monaghan-Derry and Dublin-Monaghan-Letterkenny services now go via Dublin Airport.

    John R,
I used to take the Aircoach on a regular basis. Dublin to Belfast is always in and around 2hr - 2hr 15m max. Once or twice it has taken longer.

The Bus Eireann buses take a hell of a lot longer 3+hrs. Never again.

Thanks for that info. John R. Might come in handy.
As to advertising Aircoach got quite a write up in yesterday's Sunday Tribune.

12 euro return from ballsbridge to the airport wow hardly a bargain

on a different point I think someone might want to take interest in the speed of these aircoaches

the speed limit for a coach in the 26 counties is 80kph no matter what road it is driven on that is the maximum speed

dublin airport to dundalk is 75 km according to aa route planner
aircoach say they do that in 50 minutes
the most distance you can cover non stop at 80 kph in 50 minutes is 67 km that does not include stopping in Drogheda

on the drogheda stop they give 25 minutes to get to drogheda from the airport a distance of 40 kms

25 minutes at 80 kph is 33 kms

so are aircoach encouraging their drivers to break the speed limit

I would consider that a bargain.
    Taxi return: approx 40/50 Euro
Ordinary bus: (excluding the hassle changing and stopping EVERY stop on way) 4/6 Euro.
Aircoach: nice, clean, very few stops as most people get off at the same stops i.e. Hotels etc
Must be a bargain and (I think) 2 kids go FREE with every adult!

I like the maths on the speed though!

Wasn't that changed when the speed limits went metric?

    http://www.oasis.gov.ie/transport/motoring/road_traffic_speed_limits_in_ireland.html
Certain vehicles in Ireland (specifically vehicles that are intended or adapted for the carriage of people, vehicles greater than a certain weight and vehicles that are drawing trailers) are subject to different speed limits than those outlined above.
    • Double Deck Vehicles - 65 km/h
    • Buses and Coaches (with accommodation for more than 8 passengers 80 km/h
    • Towing Vehicles - 80 km/h
    • Trucks (with a design gross weight of more than 3,500kg) - 80 km/h

    Thanks, I stand corrected.

I thought there were plans to increase the bus one to 100km/h on motorways. Ah well. :(

Are Aircoach bus internet rates the same as the fares you buy on the bus?

Are there stops for people to stretch legs/go to toilets etc?

Took the Aircoach from the airport into town today.
Watched the speedometer and they didn't seem to respect it as much as Dublin Bus for example.

A brilliant service, do they use the same buses with 2-1 seating on their long distance routes?

They use a couple of different buses for the Cork/Dublin run.
One is the same as you'd get from Dublin city Centre to the airport,
but one is the uber comfy 24 seater.

oh - and they do stop for a 10 minute break en route.

Just want to recommend the Aircoach Dublin/Belfast service. Lovely coach, plenty of free seats, and fantastic value for money (£5 from Belfast). Only down fall is Dublin Airport is the last stop, so you need to pay for a bus or whatever to get into the city.
