    Hey Guys,

I decided to go out around my local area today and take some photos with my Samsung Digimax 202.. a pretty basic camera, not designed for photography as such. Well, I tried my best. So check out the pictures and tell me what you think.

And here's the little beast I took them on..

Not crazy about the photographs to be honest, but some of the stuff on that page isn't too bad at all. Is it all your own work?

Keep it up anyway.. there may be use for you yet ;)

The photos seem to be black and white only for the sake of being black and white. They're very heavy and grey. Black and white photography is about the tones, different shades of grey. It's a whole different way of working and the more you do it the better you'll get. You begin to see colours as shades of grey, previsualising how the scene before you transfer to your print.

I'm not a huge fan of digital black and white but I'd suggest shooting in colour and then converting in Photoshop afterwards, much more control over the final result.

Check out photo.net and read a few tutorials.

on fairness my camera is quite crap. So it's not going to do any photographer justice

You'd be surprised what you can do with a really simple camera. The photographer takes the picture not the camera.

If you can produce this work with a basic camera, you have THE EYE.

Black and white photography is nothing unless you develop it yourself in a dark room. colour photography is nice too if you can capture colours right, but if you develop in a dark room you feel much more proud of your photo.

Thats all well and good if u have a film camera, and not a digi one.. anyway, I think that pride isn't everything. And personally I'd feel just as "proud" either way..

Then you use a digital darkroom, like photoshop. I've always felt it was rather pointless buying a digital camera minus photoshop if you want to do anything more than take snapshots.

Eh...Fireworks isn't wonderful at all for processing images. You should stick to PS, you'll have alot more control at the end of the day.Do you know how to use adjustment layers? Basically they're all you need for processing an image.
