31-03-2005 10:13pm#1i need help. im getting really frustrated at this so if anyone can shed any light, then please do so.
ok, when i boot up the PC, everything is fine up until windows begins loading (ie goes from black DOS screen to windows background screen minus taskbar etc). when it gets here, it will just stop. it wont hang just stop. when i press Ctrl+Alt+Del the little box opens wit a different "Not Responding" program. though "msdtcw" is "notResponding" a lot of the time and there might be 2. the weird thing is, if i just press escape, sometimes it loads up normally then. or else it might give a blue screen. other times ill have to turn off the power and restart.
oh also, the odd time after powering off via the power switch and rebooting, i might get a BIOS error saying "No KEyboard" or sumting similar and the odd time i get no mouse detected when windows begins to load!
its gotten to the stage where my da leaves the pc on 24/7 so he doesnt have to reboot it 4/5 times to get it to load up properly (which it does once in a while).

64mb ram (1mb shared graphics)
8gb HDD
Win 98 SE
its a heap.
is there a possibility that theres not enough ram or the hard drive could be gone? it doesnt sound gone but its makin tha noise all old drives make when it reads data. it only started when i installed something from windows update i think, though i uninstalled all them Q2134568 things in Add/Remove. maybe DCOM? im totally lost. the thing even crashes when im just surfing. its wreckin me head and i cant do me project. any any ideas?
