    Hey Guys,

A colleague and myself and recently come upon an opportunity to assist a software comany in finding new clients. We have a decent knowledge of the IT industry but this side of things I have not had much experience in. They are looking for us to introduce them to possible clients who require software projects in Ireland. I was just wondering if anyone can give me some ideas of how we would go about finding potential customers. They already have a few clients in Ireland and are looking to expand their operations here.

Can anyone give me some advice as to how I would go about finding companies with the requirement for a new project etc.

    Many Thanks.

Step 1 - Identify potential markets.

Step 2 - Build up a list of Potential Client companies using Business directories, trade journals, websites etc.

Step 3 - Network, network, network.

Its going to be very difficult to break into this kind of work cold - most businesses dont have any time for cold callers. Can you use any present contacts to get a foot in the door at a potential client?

get a couple of small company's to take your software and offer it for very cheap, then wait till a govt. tender comes up and go for it. then look at european tenders,e legally if its a big tender it has to be offered Europe wide.

remember " Public procurement in the European Union alone represents 11% of the total gross national product and amounts to an estimated value of €720 billion EUR in contracts per year. "

yes thats €720,000,000,000 , with that much money you should be able to pick up a €1 million (0.00000138%) for doing little or no work.

Thanks guys, thats really usefull, any more advice greatly appreciated. Can anyone tell me, if a company has got a requirement for a software proect, how do they usually go about finding a company to design it for them? What are the normal procedures and how do you expose them to your company without cold calling or direct marketing?
