Just got this game for my 11 year old son and we are having some good races
together. He set himself up as the main player on his memory card and bought a car to start. Can I also set up a profile for myself or is only one player allowed at a time.Do I have to buy an extra memory card to do this

I'm pretty sure you'd need an extra memory card, however...

You might be better off sharing the same save file. You can both work towards earning cash and completing competitions. You both get to drive each others' cars. Even if one of you completes a particular challenge, the other can still go back and redo it.
You can choose to either share the load, and work towards different things (maybe you're good on gravel, and he's good on city tracks), or you can each attempt all the different challenges the game has to offer, meaning you basically get twice the prize money and twice the money from selling prize cars, and you only need to buy one of each car that you both like :)

I've had great fun racing against my wife, but of course she always gets a ~120HP advantage and sports tyres versus my street tyres, otherwise the races wouldn't be very close ;)

Which car has the best soundtrack....the sounds in GT4 aren't the best in my opinion, but the DB9 with racing exhaust is my favourite sound so far.

evo 8 with all the engine upgrades + racing exhaust = unholy growl of an engine. best engine sound imo

Evo ya say, I'll have to take a look, I graduated using a second hand scooby doo, so I didn't get to drive it. I'll have to invest some credits. The corolla levin makes a nice noise as usual too, as does a tuned nsx-r. The GT had a nice whine if I remember correctly, I had to sell it though, the handling was a bit to random.

yeah 3rd person view of the evo VIII is the only car i can really recall noticing the sound of, from inside the car all the engines sound too similar imo. But hearing the evo on a special rally stage, when the camera panned down past the opponent car revving up, then to my own car which had a much more ferocious growl, it was a nice experience.

    Ahem!
every car sounds different in GT4. They wind/drag noise is even better in the latest GT.
U can put 2 different profiles on different Mem Cards. so u have 2 different names.
It would be better if u both work thru licences races etc and save as u go. GT4 is such a big game that u'll still be playing it in a years time. Just out down some rules that no selling off prize cars to buy upgrades. Some prize cars can only be won once and if u sell them u cant ever get them back.
