Well it is valid exploit and this is the security board. But I reckon a URL woulda done it.

    .logic.

I've already posted my opinion on this on the CS board thread, but I encourage discussion of vulnerabilities on this board. Maybe it does "help the script kiddies", but I think it can do more good than harm.

If the admins read it before the script kiddies, then it's all good.

    agreed,
discussion fo the exploits is going to benifit, that is the point of a security board is it not, i much prefer seeing somthing presented like this as half the time im not going to be bothered clicking on a link

tbh I don't think there are many script kiddes using linux , hell most of them probably couldn't install it , so played tom and at least this way the servers will be patched nice and quick wink.gif

You'd be surprised. Alot of script kiddies install redhat/mandrake/suse with the ultimate aim of someday getting slackware running.

Man, I'm a script kiddie and I never even knew it.

    amp: who dreams of slackware

you also have to assume that wget is installed on the system that said script kiddie is using.

Posting a "step by step this is how to do it" imho is a bad idea. It just makes it easy for them. Adding in lines like "don't do this bit " etc just points out the sillyness posting the step by step in the first place.
