Mac Mini / eMac query

    Hi,

am currently using win xp having previously (5 yrs ago - OS7.5) had a Mac.

Since the mini was released I'm considering returning from the dark side.

Space is a premium so I'm leaning towards the mini (customised from standard spec) as I can use my existing crt and it will fit on top of the pc case under the desk.

I'm hoping for recommendations from current mac users as to whether the mini or the emac would be a better choice.

Use will be mainly web / mail / appleworks & i-life, not really into gaming.

    thanks in advance

I bought a Mini and moved from Xp as well.. I got the 1.25 with 512 ram , airport and 80GB HD. I use it for airtunes, iLife and email/browsing. Works grand- occasionally get the beach-balll but I'm generally pleased - nice, small and very quiet.

Since I got it I have had to download a couple of updates etc - these are things that the Mac fanatics would have us believe are just a windows thing !

Regarding books - I found the "Missing Manual" to be useful - its a handy reference and even contains info on how to access Eliza - a computer based therapist (blast from the past - I studied it as part of a course once..)

    thanks for that parsi

    Eliza - wow!
I remember that from waaaaaaaaay back in the mid 80's.
Also remember changing the code and putting in loads of Fs in the responses on the mac that was in our school at the time :D

Definately getting the mini now - eliza has clinched it for me ;)

You want a TFT and Mac Mini.

glad to have helped... agreed with the TFT part as well - go DVI or get a decent dvi-analog adapter as the one with the mini seems to cause screen darkness. Then again you could use this an an excuse for an upgrade....
