OK heres some of my amateurish attempts.

The first couple are with my old camera, I know theres no colour but thats before I learnt to turn off the flash on my old digital zoom.

I will add some from my new camera also.

Any comments appreciated, I know they could be better, lighter, sharper.

not bad at all id have very little criticism for those shots except for maybe the 2nd shot is very patchy

It depends on what kind of camera you are using. If you have one with aperture control, try and reduce the depth of field so that the background is not in clear focus (for shots of people) as it distracts slightly.

Good shots in difficult (indoor + movement) conditions though.

Yeah 2nd one was the length of the Hub stage, I was at one end she was at t'other.

When you say 'depth of field', I think I know what you mean there is a thing on the display so you can shoot a single point or a slightly bigger area and then the whole area. is this what you mean?
Have not tried that too much, if im close up its not a problem but the further away obviously its more difficult to guarantee hitting the target.

Another thing to think about though....cheers and ditto for feedback.

Reducing the depth of field means reducing the amount of the photo that is in focus. For example in this shot the people are in focus but the background isn't so sharp.

If you had the same effect on your first shot then the lights and ceiling wouldn't take any attention away from the central character.
