    Hi Everybody,

Can somebody recommend a sound card to me for a home theatre computer I am building, it needs to have an optical output and at least 6.1 sound ideally 7.1. Any advice would be great.

    Thanks,
    TCP/IP

How about the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 available from here . I've got one and it's the bees knees

I don't think it has optical output though, just coaxial digital output

The audigy 2 zs is a great home entertainment level sound card. To get optical though you'll need the platinum or platinum pro versions which cost €215/220. The default (about €100) has only digital SPDIF. Details here , there's plenty of reviews at all the hardware sites and all versions are probably available cheaper if you look around, ebay etc.

I would also recommend the Audigy 2 zs. I got the basic card and the sound is great...
