Well, it arrived yesterday from Play.com.

The artwork is ok, could have been done a bit better but i'm never really that concerned about that... book by its cover and all.

The box isn't what i'm used to, i prefer the fold out type. This box set opens one flap and then the discs are kept in plastic dvd holders. Not 100% impressive TBH.

overall i'm hapy enough. The contents are still the high quality episodes that we saw on TV now at my very finger tips.... so thats good.

Anyone else the proud owner of season 1? Thoughts?

What extras are there? What deleted scenes and episode commentaries (if any) are there? :)

Its about all I want it for as I've high-quality rips of all the episodes already. :D

boo... mine hasn't arrived yet. My post is always so slow.

I need to pick up a copy of the mini-series now too. It's just £6.99 on sendit.com. Which is pretty good.

On the last DVD there is a section of deleted scenes, but i'm leaving that till last. i presume the special features are on that dvd also.

Will update when i finish the series, maybe this weekend by the time i get through it all.

    Right,

There is about 48-50 minutes of deleted scenes. Some of them are good, give alternate ways of looking at situations. Some of them fill in blanks.

AThere is one where Baltar tried to break up with Six... "Its not you its me"... rofl... i can see why it was deleted, it was in Kobol's Gleaming Pt1 which was a serious ep and it was a pretty funny scene, would have detracted from the whole feel of the ep.
the deleted scene's make it soo obvious boxy it a colonic

I have the original BSG on DVD. Haven't gotten around to watching it yet, but I still think it was a lot better than the latest effort. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the new one but there was something missing from it that took away from what the original had.

Extras are overrated, who really wants to see "The Making of...." Documentary, or interviews with cast/creators about were they got the influences to play the characters.

Having looked at the "deleted scenes" poor oul boxy got a terrible hatchet job done on his character

Yeah, they seem to have taken a machette to boxy's scenes and said goiod bye to them.

Anyway, deleted scenes were deleted or a good reason.

The Series 1 Region 1 dvd will have an extra disc - the mini series.
Plus lots of commentaries, deleted scenes, behind the scenes & more. Im glad i gave the Region 2 a miss.
    From DVD Answers:

Universal has announced the first season of the latest Battlestar Galactica series, which stars Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, James Callis and Tricia Helfer. The five-disc set [not the UK version released by Best Buy in the States - TGL] will include the mini-series and the subsequent thirteen episodes, and will be available to own from the 20th September this year. Retail will be around $59.98. Each of these new episodes will be presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks. English and Spanish subtitles will also be provided. I'm afraid Universal hasn't released the official package artwork for this one yet, but we'll bring you that just as soon as it is made available. For now though, here's the full extra material rundown:

    >>> Mini-Series Commentary with Director Michael Rymer and Exec Producers David Eick and Ron Moore

    >>> Pilot Commentary with Director Michael Rymer and Exec Producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore

    >>> "Bastille Day" Commentary with Executive Producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore

    >>> "Act of Contrition" Commentary with Executive Producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore

    >>> "You Can't Go Home Again" Commentary with Executive Producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore

Nope. It's not included. But you should be able to pick it up pretty cheaply on it's own.

I was hoping the US Boxset would have the 'Starbuck meets Starbuck at Starbucks' interview on it... that was a pretty off the wall interview that I saw on Sky before they showed the pilot.

Heard about that SE edition. Sounds class. Anyone know when Season 2 is out here? It's started in the US. Haven't seen any ads on Sky. and you know they advertise the sh*t out of their new progs months before they start (can you imagine if they got Lost first?)
    Cheers

i just saw the first episode of the new series a couple of days ago, great stuff, reminded my why i like the series so much, its just got something that most other sci-fi shows don't, theres a real dramatic edge there and not too much reliance on technobabble.

Are there episodes 3 and 4 out yet? i though only ep1 and 2 of the new series had been shown....
