Just a quick questions guys, I am trying to get a quote for my Mustang 67 and my insurance company has asked for it to go for an NCT, is this the norm when going for classic insurance. I was under the impression that classics were exempt. Thanks for any help regarding this.

Cars older than 30 years are exempt from the NCT. Who is your insurance company? Will the car be your primary car?

They may looking for an engineers report, which 9 times out of ten is the NCT. Get them to clarify what it is they require.

Also, give First Ireland (01 882 0800) a shout before you make your mind up.

I was never asked for an NCT - only an engineers report - and even then they only asked for this every few years (not every year) I am with Gogans insurance brokers in Dublin.

I would love to see a pic of your Mustang - is it a coupe or convertable? (probably in another one of your posts)
*shuffles off to search through all your posts*

Ah - this is your first post - welcome to the board - Mmmm - I bet its a red convertable

nice car - has it been restored? Are those the original wheels? If not, they really suit it.

    I guess the "67" is a typo in Corelon's first post; that car is a 64-66 (i can't tell)

So tell us more - did you source it in the USA or UK. I have been thinking about something like that myself. Is the quality of them good and is it reliable.
If from USA how much did it cost to ship over and how did you come accross it. A nosey lot here you know

No offence guys, but it took me a long time to find this, a mad weekend in 3 different countries looking for one. But if you guess I won't lie.... It would be very interesting to see what price you think it should ahve gone for.

    Alfasudcrazy,

I'll sell you this fine example of a '67 mustang for....oh....lets say, 7k, if your interested ;)

This (warning 200k image) would cost you in or around €15,000

and is pretty similar bar the colour.

and it's pristine, I would actually eat my dinner off the underside, if you could turn it over for me.

However, thats importing from the states, buying in a top dollar garage.

depends on where you bought it

Just click the hyperlink thing (10th button in at the top when replying) and type the text, then in the next box type the link.

I'm chopping that car into a few dozen pieces soon. It has no floors, and all the rails are rusted. Unless someone want to offer me something stupid and have a go at restoring it! <insert relevant smiley; firefox doesnt like boards.ie anymore for me!)

    Hi,

Maybe they want the NCT or Engineers report for valuation purposes, imagine if a certain gent insured a certain mustang for the average value ?

Not saying he would but then insurance companies are born with the belief all policy holders are out to rob them.

Valuation is my vote and that red Mustang is a beauty , dang now I need another new keyboard, forgot me bib and drooled all over it :)

Yeah love the red Mustang.....peachy !

I've had my 1964 merc for 4 years nearly and no insurance company has asked for NCT/Eng. report or anything at all ! :D

Try AXA for a quote with their concours policy. I got a very good quote yesterday !

I'm just back from a couple of weeks in San Diego.
The number of rust free pre '67 mustangs (mostly coupes, but a fair number of convertibles too, fastbacks are much less common) in daily use was pretty surprising. Some lovely GTO's, early Cameros, Cougars, Chevelles, etc too. And these aren't pristine weekend toys either (saw some mint and costly looking '55, '57 chevys that looked like they just came off the production line). Check out the craigslist.com classifieds for SF, LA, San Diego and see the classic americana bargains available.
