    Hi,

I know it's counter-charter but Dustaz can arm-wrestle me for it...

I'm looking for an old iMac (say Rev C, D or later) for a personal project. OS is unimportant because I'll be replacing it anyway, it just needs to be working reliably.

I can collect in the Dublin area and will pay the going price as determined by completed auctions on eBay for a similar machine.

    Thanks, Hugh

    i have 1x 350 slot load & 1x 266 tray load.

they both need FBT's, the 266 has an adc conector, so you could whip out the board and make a woking mac out of it if you like.

50 for the pair if you are interested

    FBTs?

    Fringe Benefits Tax?
    Floridians for Better Transportation?

    adc connector?

    These TLAs have me confused.

    Sorry, you've lost me there.

    Ah, the old flyback transformer.

Sounds gnarly. Let me ponder awhile.

If you accidentally discharge any stored voltage with your body, you will likely suffer very serious injury and possibly death.

Thanks Souper but I think I'll give it a miss. I do have an old 15" Apple display kicking around somewhere but I have limited space to keep the machine, so I'll stick it out for a whole one..

Meh, a transformer is a transformer; put power in, you get power out. They don't store power. The capacitors that are inevitably clustered around it, however, are entirely another matter...

Drifting back on-topic, I believe that those flyback/line output transformers are as rare as proverbial rocking horse manure; however, I seem to remember that at least some CRT iMacs have the old-style 15-pin two-row apple monitor connectors; these can be converted to standard D-subs with a simple adaptor, or if you can scrounge an old (beige) Apple monitor somewhere... though to be honest I don't know the specific identifying marks from the various revisions of iMac. I know that the monitor I had with my old beige G3 (a 17" Multiple Scan) used the same connector as a mate's iMac (I keep meaning to give him the monitor, as his transformer's knackered too)

    Hope this helps,
    Gadget

I'll give you 400,000 quid for the 350.

Seriously though, if you're still interested in getting rid of one of them, we could come to an arrangement to bring in both transformers at the same time and save on shipping?

I emailed the bluestar people and they replied with:
