I'm definitely playing. My favourite tournie at the Fitz, along with the Friday night scalps I suppose.

    yeah I will be there.
Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks back, came fourth (2 in the morning!) and only got 200e for it.......not sure it was worth it, but I like the format, much prefer it to rebuy tourneies.

last week prize pool was €800 for 1st,€375 for 2nd and €250 for third, there were only 40 runners. Also first got €100credit for pokerfest and 2nd got €75. It was my first time playing it last week and I really enjoyed it, at no stage were the blinds high enough to cause an all-in fest and it allows you to play proper poker. Though the return for your money isnt great unless you reach the final two (a deal will more than likely be done here), it is a very enjoyable game for a low entry fee imo.My fave tourney also and will be there again tonight.

You only pay what, 50? And its a freezeout so you arent risking much and its a small field (playing uber tight will probably get you to the final table!)

I have you beat, sometime in February I came 3rd and only got €250 :) I like the small field and freezeout, get to the final table, get paid, and home in bed for 1:30 AM! None of this 4 AM business! This is going to be a fun week of poker for me (as I am still without broadband following an apartment move) - tonight, probably Wednesday, big game Thursday, scalps Friday :) Fun fun fun...

is it a 50 euro hold-em freezeout? how much chips do you start off with and whats the blinds structure like? might end up going down

    What is the scalps game?

You pay 50+reg to enter. You get a "scalp" (a chip) when you go all in, you place your scalp in the pot. If you lose, you lose your scalp but can rebuy, if you win, you keep the scalp. You collect the scalps as you can cash them in for €10 a pop! great way to watch some aggressive play happening!!

Double chance. you get half your chips 1,500 (I think) 300 bonus for signing in early. You can take your other half chips, whenever you want them. Most people seem to take them at the break.

This has changed now. You only put the scalp in when you are all-in AFTER your re-buy/top-up.

You should definitely play it rory. playing a proper tournament against decent opponents will be a lot of help to you before thursday

This was changed because during the break, or if they were being moved to a new table, people could just put the chip in their pocket, pretend that they had lost it before the break and after they got busted out cash it and keep the tenner.
    Not that anyone ever did.....

And it makes much more sense like this. Getting someone's scalp is much more meaningful now (as meaningful as it can be, at least), as you are knocking them out of the tournament, rather than simply taking all of their chips in a rebuy situation. I got to the final table two weeks ago (98 runners I think) without taking a single scalp, I believe I was the only one there without an extra scalp! Managed to grab two on that table, though, including that of Kev the solicitor, which was very satisfying :) I don't think I have ever been on a table without him without laughing, he's great craic.

Hope to see you tonight, Rory, if you can replicate your free-roll success during the rest of the week, you will be a force to be reckoned with!
