I am forwarding advance notice of a visiting instructor.

Hanshi Patrick McCarthy will be in Ireland for a two day seminar on Saturday and Sunday 22nd & 23rd of October 2005.

He has spent years developing a simple yet effective way in which to integrate universal principles into the infrastructure of any curriculum (without negatively effecting the signature characteristics of any style), he is genuinely committed to making this information, which might otherwise remain hidden as it had from him for so many years, available to anyone who has a genuine desire to learn it.

(Hanshi McCarthy is director of the only two-year full-time nationally recognized Martial Arts Instructors Diploma course, the only training course of its kind anywhere in Australasia)

On previous visits seminars have consisted of:-

1.Futari-geiko, two person drills which link fundamental technique to kata.

2.'Old Style' Karate Kata :- Yara Kushanku, Matsumura Seisan, Aragaki Niseishi and the relevant applications.

3.Heian/Pinan Katas and applications both Omote (surface level) and Ura (behind/hidden).

4.Techniques of Kuzushi, Nage & Ukemi-waza, Shime-waza, Ne/Osae-waza, pressure point activation have been covered.

5.Specialist seminars have taken place covering the Choki Motubu drills and Muchimi (sticking hands) drills.

6.Exploration of the Naihanchi (Tekki) katas and their corresponding two person drills and applications.

Hanshi McCarthy is presently ranked Karatedo 8th degree Black Belt by Kinjo Hiroshi Hanshi and holds a Kyoshi Menkyo issued by the Dai Nippon Butokukai Kyoto Honbu: Issued April 1994.

His research has been extensively published and his is the author of several books on Karatedo history, philosophy and application.

His English translation of the Bubishi has become a best seller and even translated into German, Russian, Italian & Spanish. Hanshi McCarthy's development & introduction of the HAPV (Habitual Acts of Physical Violence) theory & two-person drills have placed him amongst the most sought after non-Japanese lecturers and seminar teachers of traditional karate in the world today.

This is a fully 'open' course, we look forward to seeing you all there...

Details:- nuig_karateclub@yahoo.co.uk or you can phone
    (086) 0876762 anytime.

Please forward this notice to anyone/club that may
    have an interest in it.

Rick will be in Cork in October also!! My new job won't let us take days off from October to the end of December :( So it looks like I won't be able to get up your way for this on either

    Damo,
Is the Patrick McCarthy seminar open to anyone? If so I'm sure I would know one or two who would like to attend.
