Fantastic Hair Straighteners

    Hey people!

Just in case anybody is looking to buy hair straighteners - I'd advise getting the Remington Power Ceramic ones. You can get 'em in Boots, and they are the best straighteners I've ever used. With my old GHDs, I'd spend ages straightening, and then it still would go a bit wavy a few hours later. With the Remington ones, I only spent about five minutes doing my hair (and I've really long hair), and it's still poker straight a day later!

They only cost me like €30 in Boots, so I thought I'd share this with everyone in case ye were thinking of buying GHDs, which are over-priced and totally useless in comparison :)

Thanx tinkerbell. I have the Mark Hill ones which cost me a whopping €110 about a yr and a half ago me thinks. They are still around the same price. The ceramic plates are gone all brown though, as if the stuff is wearing away or something. Might invest in the remington ones you mentioned. Thanx for the tip :)

I have the GHD for bout a year now and I think they are great. I think it can just depend on you hair.

I had GHD's for about a 2 yrs - although I didn't use them very often, I used them enough to justify their price and I also have to admit that I was very happy with them... until... the last time I used them.

I have a habit of wrappping the cord around the straighteners and because of this I wore away the casing around the wires - exposing them, so they sparked the last time I used them.

Throwing out the GHD's now and need to replace them - so I think I'll try the Remington ones!!

Thanks for the advice! and remember to be careful of wrapping the cord around your straighteners. ;)

i got one by hair tools! its great coz you can adjust the heat according to your hair type ie. if you have real thin hair a ghd would really damage it! but it goes up to the same temp as a ghd! oh yea its like half the price too!

Perhaps they're only €30 because poker-straight hair isn't considered "interesting" any more?

Ah now, I've had my GHDs for 2 years now..and they still rule. I've tried my friends straighteners..and none of them are as good. It's a vicious circle though..I've used them so much I can't NOT use them.

I have the GHD too you cannot beat them

I'm telling ya, the Remington ones are unreal! I have GHDs as well but have just tossed them to one side after using the Remington ones. It was so difficult to straighten my hair using the GHDs, with the Remington ones, it doesn't take it long to straighten at all.

So they get my thumbs up :D

    What does GHD stand for?

GHD stands for 'good hair day'!
hey tinkerbell! i found the remington ones didnt work at all! must be different hair types!

Really? Aww that sucks :( Coz they are fantastic on my hair  Ah well, must work differently on some people's hair.

does the remington one have different temp settings on it? Thinking of getting it. Hope it works well though

I have the remingtons as well, and even though I only use them about once a month, I think they're excellent. My hair is really thick and wavy but they do the business on it, and for only E30...

    got it in one.

No, they don't have different temp settings on them. You just plug it on, push the on button and away ya go. They get really really hot so they straighten your hair so well. I use a hair protector thingy before I use them and my hair has never gotten damaged either. So tiz all good :)

but hair straightebers do more than just give poker straight hair, i mainly use mine just to straighten out the curls/kinks and the frizz, or else even to curl it nicely

i cant comprehend how people think ghd's dont straighten hair?? although i have fine enough hair, but when i straighten my hair it will stay poker straight for a day or two ;) have mine almost three years, and never once had a problem! (i have striaghteners called kodo, so maybe they're slightly different than ghd's)
