    Its been about 3-4 years since i stopped the whole upgrading thing on my old pc and started playing console games instead.

    so is this pc worth getting then slowly upgrading (mainly GFX card first) as cash becomes more available. Its 430 euro on dell's site incl. VAT and delivery

    The Dell DimensionTM 3000:

    * Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology (Up to 3.40 GHz,1 MB L2 cache and 800 FSB) or Intel® Celeron® D Processor (Up to 3.06 GHz, 256kB L2 cache and 533 FSB)
    * Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
    Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional
    * Up to 2048MB of dual channel DDR system memory for improved productivity when running power-hungry applications
    * Up to 160GB 7200RPM hard drive
    * Integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2
    * Integrated Intel® 10/100 Pro network adapter

    Any other good computer sites appreciated but i really don't wanna make my own from scratch. I'd rather buy and upgrade parts.

    Integrated gfx are something to watch out for (in a bad way)....check that there's a separate AGP slot so that you /can/ upgrade later.

    In general, if you intend to upgrade, I'd advise staying away from Dell because they have propriatary sized cases and motherboards (limiting the CPU upgradability without buying a new mobo direct from Dell).

    Just my tuppence.

    are you buying off the main dell site or the Outlet store ( http://www.dell.ie/do )
    - you can get some nice deals at the outlet. ;)

    Thanks for the advice.

    Can you recommend anywhere else to buy from?

    Its just the 430 price point is very tempting but if i can't put a proper GFX card in then whats the point

    There is some PC's here, can anyone recommend this company?

    The problem is that for your €430 price point (which I presume is "Starts From" ?) you're probably getting the lowest spec dimension 3000 they have, Celeron CPU, 256Mb Ram etc. Choose the "customise and buy" option, pick out the cpu and memory you want and then see how much it comes to. As chance would have it I was looking at Dells for work earlier, I was getting much better value with dimension 5000s once they were fully configured to what I needed (there is a money of offer ending on them ending today, but they usually have them every week or two)
