I came second in the cork IPT qualifier on vcpoker last night. First prize was a ticket for the Cork IPTand that was it for prizes. Last night i played very tight during the end and eventually was forced to make an all-in as the blinds were so high.

I played it again tonight and decided to play more a little looser but still aggressive towards the end. With 6 players left I was chip leader with 18k in chips. Then i played the following hand -

I called the big blind with 10 J offsuit.

The flop came K Q rag.
I can't remember the suits but there was no flush draw.
At this stage the pot was 4k.

The BB goes all in for 8k.

    Everyone else folds.

    I call.

He turns over K 10 offsuit.

I get no help on the turn or river.

I doubled up in the next few hands but the blinds were killing me at 600/1200, eventually went all-in with 66. Got no help and was beat by a pair of 9s.

    :(

Don’t think you need to follow an ace or 9, so what if you had to throw away the blind; you were still in a strong position at the table

Should you have folded? Yes. You have only 8 outs for the straight and he's bet twice the pot. Unless you have some indication that he's bluffing it's a clear fold and he'd have to be absolute maniac who needs to go catch a plane.

Even then it's probably a fold as you're slightly behind a bluffer holding A high. He's totally overbet the pot and is allin, with a drawing hand there's nothing you can do except fold.

The previous night, I played very tight and didnt gamble. I was eventually milked by the blinds so I went for it with that hand.... i suppose giving i was chip leader I didnt need to "go for it" so early...

I've had a terrible streak of finishes online this weekend, I keep finishing on the bubble.

After reading this and thinking back to it I can see it was a dumbass move. I've alot to learn! And to think I'm going to play the 250e game in the fitz :)
