i've made a simple data dvd-rw with a 4 gig file on it on a g5 with Titanium Toast 6. (used the mac + windows option). when i tried to open it on a winXP machine, the DVD reads 4 gigs in size, but the file is only 1.99 gigs in size. the other two files are hiiden (Desktop DB, Desktop DF) which i think have something to to with the Mac format?!? is this DVD a dud, or is the file recoverable?

if its a 4gb file, chances are its a bad burn :(

i thought so as much. Any Nero like burning software for the Mac since toast has been quite a disappointment?

hmmm, toast is pretty much it other than OS X's built in support.

maybe run an update and ask toast to verify the disk's when it's done. Maybe its a hardware problem? Or perhaps a switch in media will help? Verifcation at least will let you know if the burn has gone well.

have a chat with apple support if an update does not help
