I've only ever used + and that has worked on many dvd players(panasonic, samsung, alba etc)...
But I think most dvd players read both..

Any player bought in the last 2 years should play both.

DVD+r's can be set to play in the older players that are locked to play only DVD-R's and DVD-Roms by using bitsetting. When bitsetting is used, the DVD+R is then recognised as a DVD-Rom (or DVD-R, depending on what you want to set it to). That gets around software locks on older players limiting them to DVD-R and DVD-Rom.

The reflectivity off DVD+r's and DVD-R's are pretty much the same. I think DVD-R has slightly higher, but it won't effect general usage, unless the laser in your DVD player is really old, and is beginning to fail.

Easiest way to convert VOB to AVI is using Dr. Divx (http://www.divx.com/divx/drdivx)

    - is MARGINALLY better supported, but there's not much in it. It's something like 97% of drives versus 95% of drives...

    - plays on 95% of DVD players

+ plays on 99% of DVD players

That said, all that's about a year old, and may be inaccurate by now *shrug*

I know my g/f burned +R disks and they wont play properly on her dvd player, her dads, their dvd recorder or my dvd player...but -R's play perfect.

guess we're in that 1% that +R's wont play...:)
