'Your credit card could not be verified. Please check details or try a different card'

Can anyone please help me out here I’m really anxious to make this purchase but can't figure out what the problem is I only recently got the card which is a visa which they claim to accept and the expiry date is Jan 07

You're probably spelling your name and address wrong, if your posts are anything to go by.

    Seriously, eth0_ could be right!

Your name & address as you enter it must match the address on your bill.
Enter your card number as a 16 digit number (no spaces).
Make sure you use the digit '0' and not the letter 'O'.
Are you asked to enter the 3 digit security code that comes at the end of the card number?

If these don't work, try again later - maybe there's a problem with your card providers computers which prevents authorisation.

Failing all of the above, contact your credit card provider.

Have you used this card before?
Have you made an online purchase before?

If you're using some bank's Credit Card, they share the umbrella of Mastercard & Visa, and hence the verification number comes up incorrectly. Instead of using your number printed on the back of the card, use '000' or '0000' .

    Try it, let me know

Check with your credit card company what details they have for your address.

My credit card company had my address down as Artane instead of Coolock for years. Most places don't mind if there is a slight difference in the address like that, but every now and then somewhere will refuse the card because of it.

The address, card number, 0 & the 3 digit number are all perfect.

I tried on a number of occasions with the same result, I even tried to sign up for a pay pal account with the same result which leads me to the conclusion that there may well be a problem with the verification of the card as I only recently got it for my holidays but I tried to make the purchase on Friday night & I won't be able to contact my bank until Tuesday because of the Easter weekend.

& no I haven't used the card before or purchased online using a credit card before, as I said I only recently got the card.

Yea, its a Bank of Ireland Visa card. I tried what you suggested but it did'nt work, the verification number is optional on play-asia.com so I don't thinks thats the problim. I'm going to ring my bank on Tuesday I think there might have been a problim with the verification of the card itself as I haven't used it before.

Have you EVER used the card before?
You know the sticker that's on the card that says "Before you use this card, dial this number to verify receipt of the card"....did you read that and do what it says?

Until you call the bank and tell them the card was received, it's not active and will be refused.

The bank rang me today to see if my card had been stolen. The had put a security lock on the card because when I got the card recently I was given two different pin numbers for it, so I went to an atm to find out which one was the right one. So when they saw someone trying to use the card with the wrong pin they became suspicious and put a block on it.

A bit of an incontinence but at least there doing their job properly ;)

I really don't think incontinence was the word you were looking for.

But I'm glad you got it sorted out anyway.
