has anyone ever seen any of these fights on DVD’s or video’s??
if so what is your opinion on them and are they really brutal.

In the last couple of weeks there been articles in some Sunday papers saying that the people how fight in them and the organizers are making a fortune selling these DVD’s and they descried the fights and it all sound a bit mad but that could be just the papers making a meal out of it.

I did a search on ebay for gypsy fighting dvd’s and there is some amount of them for sale in most of them are irish gypsy’s.

Just wondering who do be buying these dvd’s??

You sir, need to stop being so sensitive. Personally I think they're great! Very entertaining altogether.

Was that the video where two knackers were fighting on a road? I was actually quite surprised by how "civilised" that fight was. OK it was a tough fight with no gloves however it wasn't the brutal, vicious free-for-all that I thought it would be.

What a lot of people don't realise is that these fights are primarily organised to settle differences and family fueds in the travelling community. It's a form of justice.
Some of them can fight like f*ck, other times it's like watching riverdnace only with tracksuits.
The nice sideline in filming them, then burning and selling DvDs is a relatively new thing. As for who's buying em, I dunno...watched a few in a mate's gaff...most of the travellers were "locals" so we had a good laugh at them...

What about big fights on Pay Per View on Sky? Do you complain to them?

Boxing anyone? Tyson, Bruno, Mohammed Ali et al....

The only difference is the boxing gloves and there is bigger money in it....

You cant compare boxing to knacker fightin, come on, no way. Between referees, ring side doctors and an ambulance on stand by and the fight having training, technique, gloves and rules, compared to bare knuckle fist fights where its keep going til submission is hardly comparable - blood pissing out, barely able to stand up without help - they are savages. While I found the knacker fights funny and quite entertaining I do not compare them in any way to a world heavyweight boxing fight.

I don't know what knacker fights you were watching but the DVD I saw of McDonaghs versus Wards(I think), didn't have blood pissing out or guys barely able to stand. There was a bit of biting and tne odd header but on the whole it was pretty lame. The knacks wouldn't stop holding and their boxing skills were pathetic. They looked incapable of knocking each other out, the fights all ended with one fighter getting sick off it and throwing in the towel, no K.O's. Because of their poor physical condition they were wasted in no time and couldn't throw any powerful punches, there was very little blood. It was 4 fights all at the end of the day for anyone interested.
It was a good laugh listening to them talk sh*te but if it's extreme hardcore violence you're after look elsewhere...... namely Ultimate Fighiting - Ultimate Knockouts on Bravo. There is some proper savagery there. Anyone see Ken Shamrock's comeback fight, where he gets the head bet off him. He looked like a f*cking Klingon by the end of it his face was so swollen.

    Eh...knackers :D

The thing about that video is that the guys are actually trying to box rather than simply tearing into each other "no holds barred". The fight seems boring because the fighters are quite cagey and defensive, are trying to pace themselves and are not constantly going for big shots/knockouts. In this respect, the fight is similar to a (licensed) boxing bout.

from the counds of that its not worth all 15.5megs on 56k. I want some serious damage and bloodshed for that amount of time

Was wondering if it was appropriate, guess not. Fair enough.

I have one but it's ****, no decent fights in it, just a load of hugging and some knacker ref shouting no howldin and shake hands (in a great pikey accent i must say) but just go outside a pub any fri or saturday night and you'll see better digs thrown

Saw one a while back. Someone had dubbed a voice-over from Street Fighter 2 into it, saying "finish him!", just before one pikey hit the other (dazed, barely standing) pikey. Class! :D
