Dose anyone remember the time that you could get free texts through message center numbers. Are they still around by any chance??

Haven't heard of any in a while!

And even if there are a few around, i think it's best not to reveal them to others. As the more messages that are being sent, the quicker the network being done over reacts and puts a stop to it!

I think they're using the free texts through the internet as a replacement... 300 a month with Vodafone.

Hmmmm... i think you've misunderstood the question!

What Willem D means is that sometimes we can send our text messages to each other for free using the message center number of some obscure mobile provider out in Azerbaijan, for example. And they have no knowledge we're doing it.. for a time!

But it's risky enough.. as they can end up charging you for all you sent when they do actually catch on.

Aye, thats the one... i did mis-interpret the question, ive never used one of those since my sister used one and it worked til one day all 16 euro of her credit disappeared and Eircell (was that the name?) put on a stony face.

Yeah.. but now that i think about it, there was one out at somepoint last year for use on O2. Can remember it was quite good and didn't take any existing credit away when the number finally stopped working.

    Those were the days! :D

LOL, i'd forgotton all about those. I doubt I paid for 1 text message when I was a 14 year old, thanks to these things. Networks have MUCH better security on these now, they are a thing of the past.

Yeah those were a blast! Thats the reason why I got my first phone, seen as I didn't have to pay for messages. My friends and I used to have really indepth conversations that lasted days all via text.
