OK, I'm wanting to go to college in another nation, but have no clue on where to get the information about it. I search yahoo, and google and came up empty... Then I search Irish forums and found this. I am wanting to go to college in Ireland. I was just wondering what are the big medical colleges in Ireland, if anyone here knoes a lot about the subject. If you have AIM, I don't know if a lot of irish people have AIM. Im me Levi5892. Or email me please! Fenderbassp@yahoo.com

    Medical schools in Ireland are:
    Trinty College Dublin
    University College Dublin
Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin
    National University of Ireland, Galway
    University College Cork

Most have a large intake of non-EU students. For instance, in TCD, there is an intake of 60 EU students and 60 non-EU students. A large proportion of that 60 is made up of north american students (USA + Canada). RCSI also has a large intake of non-EU students. I don't know about the rest of the med schools, but their admissions departments should be able to help you out.

They are more then happy to take in foreign students as they pay far higher rates. I know of someone who is paying 30k a year to study in RCSI

I can give you loads of information on admissions procedures, but I need more information from you before I can help you out.....

1 - What nationality are you?
2 - Are you willing to pay fees?
3 - Do you have a previous university degree?

More background information is also helpful. There are different application systems depending on whether you are non-EU or EU, but it helps if I know before writing loads for both categories!

Studying medicine in Ireland now is a very opportune decision, medical education is undergoing the biggest review ever currently and very significant changes and improvements to the methodologies and teaching mechanisms are on the cards.

Application is pretty easy. Its just that there are 4 different "protocols" .

Standard undergrad (no previous degree or a-levels) 6 year course

Exemptee (5 year course) avaialbe to those who have sat a levels or have previous degrees.

These apply for both EU and non-EU applicants giving you 4 different application processes.

The fees are very steep. Last I heard it was 38k in euro which makes it 40+ US and they rise year after year.

Depending on how lucky you are and how easy it is for you to get here you might have to go in for an interview.
