every year there's a gig on in Nolan Park, Kilkenny - Dylan and Paul Simon to name a few- and they usually pick a local act to play at it. does anyone know how this act is picked?

It probably involves a big hat and a good hard game of hurling.

theres nothing they love more down there than a good hard game of hurling

    :D

Mmmm yeah I saw Paul Simon there in 2002. Along with Van Morrison, FLC, Blind Boys of Alabama, Paul Simon's son Harper's band.
God it was a great day. Venue's grand.
