i'm having a similar problem too with a tv card, i can get all the tv channels but the picture keeps flickering and blacking out every few seconds. I've tried changing all the settings. as the OP pointed out the reception is not an issue cos when i put the cable back into the tv the picture is perfect.

    any ideas??

What cards and software are you using

FlyTV Prime 30 TV/FM PCI tuner
havent got the name of the s/w at the moment, but that shouldn be the reason the tv card not picking up any stations, would it??

it would because the hard part is tuning them in . If you can get the radio stations ok and the aerial/cable works fine in a normal tv then its safe to say your card is fine.

I got my card a couple of months back and i got 2 pieces of software. One to setup the card for Ireland and the other to tune in the tv stations.

Ireland's country code is 353 and we use a Pal_I system . (this should help you with the card setup).

I cant help you with the software as i dont know what it is and i probably dont use it . I use a third party tv software called Chris Tv . If you want to try it out i can help you set it up.

could be simply the reception, try plugging a signal booster or a VCR to your ariel/NTL cable

Have you updated your Directx properly?
When I installed my tv card it gave me static screen until I downloaded the DirectX patch for tv cards.
I am using it fine now, version 9b for directx.
