I was chatting to someone yesterday who it turns out has a 1937(IIRC) BMW 319 Frazer Nash and is thinking of selling it. Apparently it was valued at over UK£55k.
As the owner said he wanted to keep it in Ireland, is his wish likely to happen - is there likely that someone out there has the yoyos for this or is it more likely to head over the Britain?
Where would a good place to start selling this motor be?

I'm afraid from my experience that sort of money is not often being paid for pre-war and other classic cars here in Ireland. The people who have the intention of spending that sort of money, have already their channels chisseled out (usually straight into the UK) to get good cars, because there is rarely something genuinely interesting to be found in Ireland. So unless the owner has some very serious contacts within the club scene here in Ireland, I doubt very much he will be able to sell it here.

Unfortunately the likes of the Frazer-Nash, would be exclusively a Collector's car, to add to a museum or specialised collection.
Now I have found that the art of collecting classic cars on that level is unfortunately very much a "private" and almost "secret" affair, with the large collectors keeping their cars very close to their chest, and therefore you do not see them joining in on public events. There are plenty of TOP cars here in Ireland in private hands, Aston Martin's, Ferrari's, you name it, even an Irish registered Lamborghini Miura... But they are seldomly spotted outside their heated and sheltered garages.
