    Hey,

Does anyone have a spare External Hard Drive in the Waterford area? Needs to be about 50gigs if not bigger. Im only going to use it for a few days, just have a file which I need to extract, convert & burn but its to big for my hard drive (file is 4.25 gig seperated into several rar files containing an img file..) which my HD cant keep as its full (7gig HD -- claned as much as possible) :P)

Let me know if you can be of assistance! Thanks!

You could burn all the file onto DVD. Delete if from your HDD then extract from the DVD onto your HDD.

I could but that would be a waste of DVD... Hrm.. Im affraid I still may run out of space all the same. Cause iv to extract, use ISO Buster, then convert it to DVD Format, then Burn it. All require space on my HD...

the img file doenst need to be converted to anything
download dvd decrypter and that can burn it,
use an rw like suggested for the rars, although they may not fit as theyll be uncompressed.

sorry not dvd decrypter for iso.
    alcohol 120 or magic iso,
maybe just mount the image with dameon and dont burn?

You know someone with an ipod or other similar HDD device. You could use them as an external HDD.

Nip down to PCworld and buy a DVD RAM disc. Extract the image to that. Then delete the RAR files from your HDD. Use ISOBuster etc.. to extract the MPEG from your RAM disk back to your HDD. That should sort out your space problems, could come in handy if you're going to be doing this in future and want to save on the expense of upgrading your HDD. ;)

only problem in that is you'll also need to buy a DVD-RAM drive. Or not if youre lucky enough to have one.

Are you that scabby that you wouldn't buy a DVD so you could do this? It's hardly a waste if you need it done so bad. Instead you would rather borrow a drive off someone. Would this not be a pain in the ass to go and get and then drop back?

Well yes and no :) Its a private video that is not and never will be in the video shops and iv full legal rights to it.

Anyway - ere is wat iv planned. But the files onto a DVD Disk, go to a friends house, extract them and burn em all over there!

As for the "10 gig hd that will UPGRADE your current setup" a little bit more info would be helpfull for a better understanding thanks :)

What he means is why not buy a new HDD and add it to your pc. 10gb and 20gb would be dirt cheap or might even get them for free if you watch the FS boards.

There's a guy started breaking and recycling computers up in the Jute factory.I think there's an old sign for strand electric outside the shop. Could be worth a visit if you don't want to splash out on a new one.
Failing that €40 will get you a shiny new 40GB HDD on komplett :D
