Why's Eircom soooo slooow (512k - actual 60k)

    Sorry if this is in the forum somewhere else - I cant find anything

    I've home plus (512 down, 128 up) but the highest rate I seem to be able to get is friggin 60k down!!!! The exchange is only 100yards down the road, and there's not exactly a huge broadband population around here (Clondalkin; Cherrywood). No difference in speed when hard wired into router, or via wireless hub.

    512kbits divided by 8 = 64kilobytes - overhead = 60kilobytes

    Oh, DEAR. (Assume normal rant about many people still being stuck on 56kBITS inserted here).

    Anyway, Eircom is increasing line speeds in the next month or so; doubling or quadrupling depending on package. So enjoy. Also, if your connection actually appears slow, you might want to try switching the router off and on again; some of eircom's supplied equipment seems to have issues with being left on for months.
