Task Manager + Virus

    hmm I'm thinking I have some kind of virus my task manager looks V bizzare 1st of all the little windows between the tabs were like the size of my thumb and now there are no tabs at the top like processes, network, performance etc.

    I've tried to google for this virus but have no luck does anyone have any clues about this virus?

    run some anti virus software- should clear out anything nasty on your computer

    Look like a severe case of double-click-itis to me. To get rid of it you need to innoculate your PC to build up it's resistance to random double-clicks. Try double clicking on the blank bar around you task manager. That blank space down by the button at the bottom right look perfect, just move the mouse over that and double-click away.

    Trust me, I'm a doctor :)

    I'm not that much of a dingbat! I know you can click the little border to get it back! That wasn't the problem...though ignoring the screenshot it went weirder after by having all the tabs at the top but where it says what applications are running and processes are running etc the white window inside was tiny and said nothing was running at all....weird... I rebooted and it's gone now... no virus' found on my puter either :-/ just weird

    Ah, I thought you had the same habit of randomly double-clicking on things that I do, I discovered that little 'feature' of taskmanager a while back and it took me ages to figure out what happened.

    The second jpg is a bit weird, do any other programs go funny like that ? If so it's probably a corrupted windows dll. Installing or reinstalling the latest service pack might help. Otherwise it's probably a corrupted taskmgr.exe. Again installing a service pack might fix it, if you've installed one recently there may be a copy somewhere already if you do a search for it and copy it over the c:\windows\system32 one.
