Yeah, and his strenuous denials on BBC Sport website:

Matt Williams has dismissed reports that talks have been held to discuss his future as Scotland rugby coach.

He described such reports as "simply inaccurate", insisting that he felt his position was secure.

BBC Scotland understands Williams will not be in charge by the time of this year's autumn Tests.

But Williams told The Scotsman: "The wealth of negative, inaccurate comment has made the positives of the (Six Nations) tournament impossible."

BBC Scotland understands that his role will be under review at a series of Six Nations de-briefing meetings at Murrayfield over the next two weeks.

The views of the media and supporters, among others, will be discussed after another poor Six Nations campaign.

Williams added: "We are totally committed to the next World Cup."

The Scottish Rugby Union refused to confirm or deny that a decision had already been made to sack Williams.

The poor fella hasn't exactly been given much to work with though, has he? Did the Scottish ever bring in a provincial set up like Ireland and Wales did?

He's in a very unfortunate position. I'd be talking to the old boys club were I him, there's no point in staying there. Scots can be very nasty critics. If he truly feels that "his position was secure" then he's a fool, but it's likely playing to the media.

The Scottish RFU can really seem to be up thenselves sometimes - I think they caused Budge Poutney to step down because they would not pay for water at training sessions.

He (or another Scottish ex-Captain) told a story of how he was flying home after getting absolutely spanked in some friendly, and he gave a Scottish kid in the airport his Scottish RFU tie. After that, he got constant letters from the SRFU asking for the £8.95 (or whatever) the tie cost!

After all that, they then import Brendan Laney who was never international standard and paid him more than any other European player at that time

Laney was/is an utter joke. i never understood why they paid him so much.
The problem with the SRFU is that they can't accept that they have no talent at the minute in the international sqaud(well practically no talent).

Williams has done as good a job as anyone could IMO.

Totally off topic here, I apologise - but I seem to remember that Jeremy Davidson (a.k.a. Buzz Lightyear) was also the highest paid European player when he was in France

actually the endinburgh team dont look to bad, they played pretty well againist the ospreys which are the pride of the welsh. gavin henson had a good kicking game and the score line didnt really reflect the game.

any scottish revival will have to start at their provicial level, just as ireland and wales have shown
