oh yeah I haven't entered yet!

Two of my mates paid full price entry fee for it, more money than sense if you ask me. Still hopeful I might win a ticket for it and I'm very strongly considering going in for the full day on Friday....

Haha, Norman is the same price as Dennis Hickie and Shane Horgan - The Shame of It.

Does that mean if you enter, you can place a wedge on yourself, say, finishing final table? Or is it just winning the whole thing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,638 ✭✭✭Iago

a few quid on Dave Colclough, Liam Flood, paddy hicks and Andy Black :D

worth a punt if nothing else...and of course a wedge on myself when I win a ticket to it :D

There will be a lot more players, closer to the event - a lot of the english come over to play the super satellites etc, The hendom mob are normally there also.
There seems to be some good value there.

    Each way odds 1 / 4 places 1,2,3,4

What's the super satellites entry fee?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,638 ✭✭✭Iago

€100...they may be rebuys...if not then they'll have to be 3 table minimum

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,506 ✭✭✭Shortstack

With those odds I would be looking at putting a few bets on each way.
There are some good value bets.

John Falconer 100:1 - 2nd in an EPT this year
Stuart Fox 100:1 Rising star in UK
Julian Thew 50:1 3 EPT final tables
Tony Cascarino 100:1 Isn't a bad player, made a final table in EPT France supporting event.
Paul Jackson 80:1 Top online player
Dave Colclough and Willie Tann are the best of the 33:1, god knows why Marty Wilson is so short, probably had a punt on himself!

Only place an each way bet though as I am going to win :D

At fifty to one I'll be putting a few quid on a half dozen players, including you Mark. With my coaching (at 27 euro an hour) I think you stand a very good chance at reaching final table. But keep your fingers out of the cookie jar! You know what I mean.... (I mean if you're robbing blinds have at least a ten in your hand!)

All kidding aside, make me proud kid, make me RICH!

You might even see me out there. Ah you're sweating already!

This is something that irks me about the 2 big tournaments of the year. Information is very thin on the ground. Typical merrion if you ask me (steady). Satellites will be available yada, yada. How much?, when?, how often. How many players can they accomodate? Thanks to boards I know some answers. A €100 rebuy ffs. It's long estasblished by now that more and more new players want to play and they want the cheap opportunities to get into big tournaments. More and more I see rebuy sattelites for freezeout tourneys. How about 10 player STTs for €25 to qualify for a €200 odd 10 player STT into the open? Keep these games on the go all day etc. As it is I have no intention of playing in a €100 rebuy against guys with wads of cash. I might try the cheaper alternative of the €36 rebuy on VC but that about it. Even the WSOP qualifiers on VC are rebuys. I just don't know anymore.

From an online perspective we tried to accommodate all with our feeder structures. We set up STT feedes (which are still ongoing for tonights final grand final) $4.19 entry. They will continue up to the wire at 8pm tonight. We also set up MTT $1 rebuy feeders every night. And then 6 Grand final $36 rebuys for entry into the event. I then received a request to set up Super Satellites to the event, $100 rebuys and $250 freezeouts followed. Unfortunatly we didnt get enough customers for the last two and they cancelled.. but we tried! The full schedule of events at Citywest can be found at www.irishpokeropen.com Musician click on the link to see "All Events" it can be found on the "qualifying" page. Next time if you all send me your requests and I will structure it differently if you found the schedule insufficient.

    Pit Boss,

Muso and myself were discussing this yesterday and I think he meant the sats in the actual venue (City West). I have played some of the PP sats and as you say ye have catered for all sizes. Kudos for that.

However for a 2500eu entry fee, there should be supersats running early Sat morning (from 12) on for 30/40/50 eu (something like that) in City West. Then closer to kick off time you can have single table sats there for 250/270. Even for the smaller entry tournies (100/150/500) if would be a good thing to run sats early on those days. It just gives everyone a chance to qualify. Plus it increases the atmosphere. The WSOP can handle it so surely it can happen here also.

Indeed and I shall pass this on to the merrion on your behalf. Pocket money really.... ;)

Just wanted to report that I laid a €2 e/w bet on both Mark and Dave Colclough for the Open. Guy in my local bookie had to ring head office to get the prices, he had no idea what I was talking about.

Now Mark, no pressure, but I need you to win. Please keep that €2 e/w bet in the front of your mind while playing :)

Any player less than 75:1 you should try and get a stake in as if there are 200 runners first prize will be aprrox 150,000. Therefore you will get 75:1.
    Make sense ?

John Falconer 100:1 - 2nd in an EPT this year

Haven't seen the results, but got 254 euro back on my 2 quid each way bet on John Falconer (100-1), So I guess he won it outright..

Nice one ShortStack! Hope you put a few quid on him yourself.. :D
