Saw this late one night on TG4 - The Burning Man.

It looks like some craic. Id love to go. The tickets are pricey. Has anybody seen it on TV? Some of the stuff they make is mind boggling  eg - a temple made from thousands of wooden chairs. Madness.

I'd love to go too! It seems like such good fun. AFAIK one year an Irish bar went and traded in a temporary bar for the festival and all the staff that voluteered to go got their flights etc instead of pay for it.

A friend of mine went a couple of years running (I mean consecutively, it'd be a bit of a jog out to the desert). Best buzz ever apparently, if you like drugs and freaks and that sort of carry-on.

Not particularly suitable for those of us with typical Irish skin! It is the desert, after all. While I lived in SF, people were forever forming groups to build art structures / practice dance / get ready for Burning Man. Personally, I wouldn't travel to Burning Man for all the money in the world...speaking of which, it is only a while north of Reno, northern Nevada's *real* tourist draw :)

Cocktails in the Eldorado while doubling down on the $25 tables or listening to whacked-out artistes perform a bongo symphony to worship the Earth Mother after a third day without a shower....there is no competition in my mind!

Hehe, to each his own. There's nothing I would less like to do with my time/money than spend it in a casino. To me it's the worst idea of a holiday imaginable (assuming things all go to plan, not some hotel-falling-down scenarion) :D
